Building Brighter Futures

Since 2019, the Rehabilitation Institute Foundation has provided over $690,000 in grants for medical and vocational rehabilitation equipment and program development to Ability KC to help those who have experienced a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurologic disease, or developmental disabilities to be able to rebuild strength and coordination, and develop the skills needed to return to their daily lives.

New Programming
Funding support from 2022 - 2024 has been utilized for the development and implementation of an innovative Return To Work program that reduces employment barriers for people with disabilities by efficiently coordinating medical and vocational rehabilitation services with focus on returning to employment. Through the fall of 2024, 136 individuals have completed this program, returning to work or transiting to employment support immediately after completion of medical services.
